Commerce One, Inc., the e-marketplace company, today announced that Deutsche Telekom, the largest telecommunications company in Europe and fourth largest in the world, has saved 67 percent in purchasing-process costs since implementing Commerce One e-procurement solutions. Deutsche Telekom is using Commerce One Enterprise Buyer, a joint solution from SAPMarkets and Commerce One.
From August 2000 to May 2001, 12,000 Deutsche Telekom employees using the procurement system created 33,000 purchase orders involving 240,000 line items. The company expects even more throughput with a total of 20,000 employees targeted to use the system by year end.
With Commerce One Enterprise Buyer, Deutsche Telekom has reduced its purchasing process from 18 to seven steps, decreasing processing time, while improving the tracking and control of purchases and increasing the time available for employees to focus on strategic supplier management.
"The Commerce One procurement offering resulted in rapid return on investment for Deutsche Telekom by automating procurement processes and enabling seamless integration with our ERP systems and the Telekom-owned marketplace T-Mart," said Benno Haesser, project manager e-procurement, Deutsche Telekom. "Deutsche Telekom will continue to benefit from Commerce One solutions as we look to realize further efficiencies by bringing customers and suppliers together online to conduct collaborative commerce."
"Delivering immediate return on investment for our customers is Commerce One`s primary focus," said Dennis Jones, chief operating officer and vice chairman of the board of directors for Commerce One. "Deutsche Telekom has taken a leadership role in moving their business online and we look forward to our continuing efforts with Deutsche Telekom to enable their long term e-commerce goals."
Deutsche Telekom is also implementing Commerce One MarketSite, the e-marketplace operating environment, to power the T-Mart marketplace. T-Mart will establish a real-time collaborative environment in order to conduct a full range of business transactions and share information with key business partners and suppliers.
