Specialised Business Systems (SBS) has been appointed as a value-added reseller (VAR) for Ultimate Connection's ActiveRetail, a suite of retail application components. Aimed at retailers that want to be more profitable and productive, ActiveRetail is a new-generation, fully integrated, enterprise resource management solution.
The appointment as an ActiveRetail VAR will cement SBS's position as one of the country's leading VAR's, enterprise systems and network integrators. Established in 1984, SBS has formed strategic alliances and received numerous accreditations from many of the world's leading vendors. Its partnerships include Compaq Premier Partner and StorageWorks Reseller, Novell Business Expert, Cisco Premier Partner, 3Com Network Premier Partner, Network Associates Gold Partner, Computer Associates VIP Partner and HP VAR Integrator.
Chan Reddy, General Manager (Projects) at SBS, said his company made a strategic decision to enter into this partnership with Ultimate Connection. "SBS's entry into the retail systems market has been preceded by considerable investment in additional personnel, skills development and training. We are confident of making significant inroads into this challenging market," he said.
ActiveRetail is globally recognised as a new generation of Microsoft-based products each of which is scalable according to the complexities of user needs, thereby enabling aspects of the product to be implemented without the full solution.
Sonja Leoncini, channel director, Ultimate Connection, said: "Ultimate Connection's vision is to enable qualified business partners to implement highly customised, cost-effective solutions by providing extensive, re-useable, pre-tested software components as a cornerstone of ActiveRetail. We are committed to providing our VARs and strategic business partners with a high level of product, marketing and business development support.
Regarding ActiveRetail she said: "The various product lines within the ActiveRetail suite are designed so that it can scale from organisations that would prefer to use it 'out of the box', or as a third-party hosted application (ASP's). The various levels of customisation are all capable of delivering competitive advantages through software."
The various product lines within the ActiveRetail suite include: ActiveRetail UltiSales which is configured for smaller, single-branch or fully decentralised multi-branch retailers in the speciality store market. ActiveRetail Solomon is targeted at medium-sized retail organisations using the Microsoft-based Solomon Accounting application. ActiveRetail OEM's has been designed to offer third-party developers the opportunity to use the same Retail Application Framework (RAF) developed to build the ActiveRetail suite so as to customise any module for specific use within a third-party product.
