SBS now a Compaq Direct Partner

Johannesburg, 12 May 2000

SBS Africa Holdings has been appointed by Compaq as a Direct Partner, a move, the company says, which will provide it with expanded opportunities in new markets and enable it to work closer with Compaq. Says Anthony Davies, SBS Sales and Marketing Director: "We made the decision to become a Compaq Direct partner as the next logical step in our relationship with the company. We first became a Compaq reseller five years ago. By entering into a Direct Partner agreement, we are able capitalise on the benefits of dealing directly instead of through the distributor channel. This is particularly important when collaborating on large IT projects."

SBS considers itself to be a Value-added solution provider. The company emphasises a commitment to product quality, service and support.

Says Louis Seyffert, channel manager for Compaq: "For four years in a row SBS has won the Compaq Outstanding Achievement Award, illustrating its commitment to the brand in SA."

He adds that "Compaq is dedicated to working with its Channel partners, which remains a pillar of the company's go-to-market and the best method of opening up new markets for Compaq technology. "This is the first appointment of a Compaq Direct partner in more than two years and the first in a series of appointments which will see the classification of Compaq Channel Partners. The renewed emphasis Compaq places on the relationship with selected channel partners and the pre-sales technical capabilities of partners will benefit Compaq customers and will ultimately have positive benefits for both the channel partners and Compaq."
