VERITAS Software, the data availability company, has appointed SBS Africa Holdings as a Premier Partner in its new VPlus channel partner programme.
As an accredited VPlus Premier partner, SBS is entitled to sell and support the VERITAS high volume products as well as its on-line, enterprise backup, hierarchical storage management (HSM) and application solutions.
Says Tristan Davies at SBS Africa: "The appointment of SBS Africa as a VERITAS Premier Partner gives our customers the assurance that we have a complement of engineers who are certified to provide support and implementation services that meet the stringent VERITAS accreditation criteria.
"We will also benefit from access to enhanced training and support from VERITAS, which in turn will translate into higher service levels and access to a pool of specialised storage management skills for our customer base."
The appointment of SBS as a VERITAS Premier Partner builds on an already strong relationship between the two companies. SBS is a VERITAS customer and uses VERITAS Backup Exec 8.0 on its 150-user network to perform backup and restore functions for its internal departments.
The partnership with VERITAS complements SBS's relationships with best-of-breed server, storage, networking and operating system vendors such as Compaq, Cisco, 3Com, Novell and Microsoft.
SBS' technical engineers are implementing VERITAS products at customer sites countrywide, several of which are operating IT environments based on the Compaq server and SAN platforms, and the Windows operating system.
Elizabeth le Roux, regional manager, Sub-Saharan Africa at VERITAS Software, confirms that as a VPlus Premier Partner, SBS Africa is accredited to meet VERITAS' standards for implementation of its products at medium to large enterprises.
She adds that VERITAS rolled out the VPlus Partner programme to educate, service and support partners that offer VERITAS solutions to their customers.
VERITAS Software develops a range of integrated, cross-platform storage management software solutions, which are designed to protect, access and manage business-critical application information.
