The recent merger between Welch Allyn and HandHeld Products has many added benefits for Scantec as it allows Scantec, their sole Distributor in Africa rights to its mobile data collection technology. The Dolphin mobile range of scanners, incorporating imaging and 2D scanners has been ergonomically designed for a varied range of harsh and standard mobile data capture applications. Dolphin mobile hand helds have been selected by many large international corporations for uses in parcel delivery and field service applications to name a few. These include the US Postal Service, Federal Express, and Dow Chemicals etc. The Handheld Products are PC compatible and easy to program with universal Microsoft programming languages.
The Handheld Products range encompasses virtually all markets from FMCG, retail, commercial as well as government. The product range includes point of sales batch handheld terminals, wireless handheld terminals, and a range of signature capture and recognition devices.
"These products allow greater efficiency, more accurate stock control and stock processes that in turn allow better cash flow and space utilisation," says Mark Broude, the director of the product division at Scantec. "Handheld Products with it associated POS applications also allow retailers to react fast to competitors and provide an overall increase in customer service levels.
Broude continues. "Scantec sees this distribution agreement as an opportunity to invest in new and future technology." Broude says he foresees 28-35% growth in sales of these products in the next 12 to 18 months.
