Local auto-identification specialist, Scantec, a Datatec company, has been appointed a value added distributor by Symbol Technologies. The appointment follows the purchase of Telxon by Symbol, who distributed its products in South Africa through Scantec. Scantec is one of only two Symbol value added distributors in South Africa.
Scantec COO Mark Broude says that the appointment is a strategic one for both companies, as Scantec is one of South Africa's largest distributors of product in the automatic identification technology field. "The combination of our existing Telxon business and the new markets we will approach with Symbol's product offering holds exciting prospects for us, and will enable us to focus on increasing our market share majority.
"Scantec has formed a strategic partnership with Symbol in mutual recognition of our expertise in the automatic identification technology field. We now have the opportunity to move forward as one of only two Symbol distributors in South Africa."
