CEO of the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre David Kramer was knighted by the French government last week.

(GDE) has congratulated Kramer on the honour, which he received for his work with the two countries and in science generally.

He was bestowed with the signet of the Knight of the French National Order of Merit by the French government.

Gauteng education MEC Barbara Creecy says this is a well deserved recognition of the invaluable contribution Kramer has made in championing maths and science education in the Gauteng province.

She also commended Sci-Bono for the role it's playing in schools, adding that the department is proud to have a person of Kramer's calibre.

The Sci-Bono Discovery Centre was initiated by the GDE and the private sector to support education in mathematics, science and technology.

“It also improves public engagement with science, engineering and technology, thus promoting career education in these critical areas of the economy,” says the GDE.
