Safmarine Computer Services (SCS), specialist provider of integrated IT business solutions, has announced the acquisition of InfoActive, an end-to-end business intelligence (BI) consultancy. InfoActive will be combined with SCS's current Business Objects team to create a specialist business unit of 25 BI experts to be spread across Cape Town, Gauteng, Antwerp and Copenhagen.
"We see real growth potential in BI and are very committed to the new business unit," said SCS Managing Director Paul Vaughan.
Founded in 1995, Cape-based InfoActive is an accredited SAS Institute Quality Partner specialising in a variety of domains such as balanced business scorecards (BSC), business activity management (BAM), customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM), data mining and others.
SCS, an independent IT solutions provider within the Safmarine and AP Moller Groups, has been involved in BI consulting and development since 1994 when Safmarine became SA's first Business Objects user.
SCS has since developed many data marts and BI applications based on the Business Objects product set.
"Through this acquisition SCS adds a business partnership with the SAS Institute to our existing relationships with IBM and Business Objects enabling us to offer our clients specialist BI capabilities," said Vaughan.
InfoActive managing director Andre Esterhuyzen, and InfoActive director John Day as Consulting Manager will head the new SCS business unit, which will sit within the SCS Business Solutions Division.
"We're very excited about joining forces with SCS," said Esterhuyzen. "SCS is a solid company with a sound track record and we are proud to be part of the team."
