SCS Africa is living up to promise

Safmarine Computer Services Africa (SCSA) has opened a new office in Port Elizabeth to service the lucrative Eastern Cape market. The company, recently restructured, and now a fully black empowered enterprise, has been challenged to grow new business and focus on previously unaddressed market segments.

Although the SCS Group, parent company of SCS Africa, had some presence in the area, it was necessary to formalize its service offerings under the SCS Africa banner. With the opening of the Couga harbour, Port Elizabeth became a substantial growth area, increasing the opportunity for sourcing new business. SCS Africa will be offering unique solutions to these companies.

The local team, ably led by Tonie Eilerd who is responsible for Business Development, has established customers. Says Tonie, "Our immediate objective with the new office is to improve the level of service and cement our current customer relationships. SCS Africa is a strong organization, sharing the same philosophies as the Safmarine Group."

Temba Qukula, Managing Director of SCS Africa, is excited about the development. "The Safmarine Group has a long standing relationship with the Eastern Cape, and we are thrilled to be able to extend that relationship through SCS Africa. The region grew economically by some 8% last year, and we are excited about the opportunities that abound as a result. Our empowerment credentials (51% Black owned) position us well to do just that".

SCS Africa's investment in the Eastern Cape, demonstrates its commitment to serve the local industry.
