Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD), South Africa's largest distributor of broad-based technology, has re-focused its national retail team, dedicated to supplying and merchandising retail stores. A significant part of SDD's revenue is channelled through the retailers and the company predicts a further growth in the next fiscal year.
Tony Galvao, SDD's sales manager responsible for the retail channel says that the retail channel services a growing sector including consumers, small businesses and sometimes even corporate buyers. "The requirements of the retail market are very specific and clearly different from doing business with the conventional reseller base. It requires an understanding of our retailers' consumers and what they look for in product and service. SDD's strength is having identified with the customers their specific needs and establishing a focused team to cater for the customers requirements," he says.
"SDD is the largest broad-based distributor in South Africa and the retail division offers retailers products ranging from computers, printers, scanners and digital cameras, a full range of software and consumables and office supplies such as cartridges and paper, CD disk and DAT tapes. We provide the convenience of a one-stop shop with national deliveries, in store training, marketing and promotions in conjunction with major vendors," says Galvao.
"In terms of our retail division's operations, we negotiate with each retailer to accommodate their specific supply and business requirements, flexible to their needs and in conjunction with our vendors," concludes Galvao. "In addition, SDD's logistics are able to cater for the volume orders which retail stores place - not only do we hold huge volumes of stock, our stock is turned monthly to ensure no out of date models and that at all stages our pricing is current."
