Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD) has broadened its presence in the accounting software market with the addition of Intuit's best-selling QuickBooks 2000 solution for the small office/home office market. Brilliant Business Systems, the main distributing agent for Intuit in South Africa, has appointed SDD its sole sub distributor.
The company will also distribute Quicken, Intuit's home finance management solution, Quicken 2000, which includes personal budgeting, chequebook management and home inventory facilities. It retails at R375. The agreement also gives SDD distribution right to Brilliant's Legal Rights 2000, a South African developed legal advisor, which retails for R499 and is described as one of the biggest resources of legal advice for South Africans.
"We're looking to expand our market penetration of these best-selling products and believe SDD is the company with the right distribution infrastructure to help us achieve our goals," says Ashley Combrink, client services administrator at Brilliant. "They will be responsible for servicing our key channel outlets such as CNA, Incredible Connection and Office mart nationwide as well as developing business among its extensive dealer and reseller network," she adds. Despite a low entry recommended retail price of R2 299 for a single user system and R4 799 for a five user version, QuickBooks 2000, has powerful features such as the ability to track invoices until they are paid, manage cheque book management, generate more than 100 reports and graphs and design company invoices and other stationery.
"It's features such as these that have made QuickBooks the world's number one small business accounting package and was one of the reasons we wanted to add it to our distribution portfolio," says Libe Monyane, software product manager, SDD. "It's a product that essentially sells itself because it has such a good reputation and is so easy to use even for someone with little or no accounting knowledge. It's a product that is totally aligned with our policy of distributing only best-of-breed solutions," he says.
SDD is embarking on a major dealer awareness promotion to ensure the channel gets to know that it now handles the Intuit and Brilliant products. Other plans include special promotions to help expand the markets for the different products. "We're confident that, working together with Brilliant and the Channel, we can increase market share considerably," says Monyane.
