SDD has announced availability of the HP Jornada 525 PDA, a compact and easy to use handheld PC.
Gregg Goosen, product manager for HP handhelds at SDD, describes the Jornada 525 as a PC that fits your pocket and your life. "The Jornada 525 enables you to work when and where you need to. It is also wireless-Internet ready so you can connect to the Web anytime, anywhere," adds Goosen.
Powered by Windows CE and a 133MHz 32-bit Hitachi processor, the full colour HP Jornada 525 is equipped with 16MB RAM. A built-in CompactFlash expansion slot allows you to add accessories and increase memory to a sizeable 128MB. He continues, "The colour 240 x 320 pixel display enriches reading electronic books, playing games and surfing the Web."
The Jornada 525 incorporates handwriting recognition software as well as an on screen keyboard. The lithium-ion battery is good for up to eight hours, depending on usage pattern.
Input and output devices include an IrDA infrared port, a RS232 serial port and an AC input jack. The built-in voice recorder and microphone allow you to record and playback speech. Goosen mentions, "This feature is the ideal alternative to taking written notes in meetings or lectures."
With a suggested retail price of R3 999, the Jornada 525 comes with one-year worldwide parts and labour warranty and a 90-day warranty on accessories. "An optional HP Supportpack rapid repair programme is offered and no matter where in the world you may be, phone support is readily available during the warranty period," he concludes.
