A new warehouse and assembly facility capable of shipping well over 60 tons of IT product a month will soon be opened by the Cape branch of Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD).
This forms part of a major consolidation programme that will see all SDD operations come under one roof at the group`s new premises in Prosperity Park, Milnerton in early July.
According to Colin Flatau, MD of SDD, this will greatly enhance efficiencies and improve service to customers in the Western Cape.
SDD, a subsidiary of JSE-listed Siltek Limited, is SA`s largest focused distributor in the Information Technology (IT) supply chain.
Dev Craul, SDD`s Cape Town branch manager, says the new 1 975m2 warehouse, assembly area and office building will occupy the largest consolidated portion of the new 4272m2 complex being constructed by Siltek Limited to accommodate all its Cape operations.
In addition, SDD is to set up a new Dealer Centre at the Prosperity Park site. Scheduled to open in early August, the dealer centre will provide registered SDD resellers a sophisticated, upmarket environment in which to demonstrate equipment to their customers.
"SDD dealer centres have proved immensely popular at the group`s head office in Midrand as well as in Durban among dealers who don`t have the facilities to store a wide range of equipment for demonstration purposes.
"The new Cape Town dealer centre will resemble upmarket computer retail stores, with products eye-catchingly displayed on shelves for dealers and their accompanied customers to see and examine. To ensure confidentiality, no shelf products are marked with a price: prices are only revealed to authorised dealers on request," Craul concludes.
