Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD) is rolling out a range of new applications designed to improve customer service and make it easier for resellers to do business with the group.
So says Colin Flatau, who recently took up the position of MD at SDD and saw the group experience record turnover for May and prospects for June look equally good.
"Despite being extremely busy, we`ve managed to stay on course to complete implementation of our new, customised Solomon IV application by June 28. This will allow us to focus on rolling out the application across the country to provide consistently high service levels for all our customers," he says.
The roll-out will ensure that SDD is totally Y2K compliant, and enable the company to offer resellers a world class service. One SDD goal is to reduce turnaround time for standard orders to under 15 minutes. Large orders, or those involving customisation and configuration of equipment, will obviously take longer.
Apart from enhancements to key processes which will be enabled by rollout, Flatau says e-commerce has been identified as a key strategic initiative for SDD to provide easier, more efficient interaction with the channel.
SDD`s DealerNET - the secure, dealer-only portion of SDD`s website which was originally deployed more than a year ago to assist resellers with basic Internet-enabled interaction - has proved extremely popular with SDD`s customers.
"In future, dealers will be given the flexibility to configure machines to their precise requirements. The SDD DealerNET will feature a `rule-based product configurator` which will assist resellers in selecting the correct, compatible hardware," he explains.
"Resellers will also be able to place orders via the Internet and track their orders at any stage in the logistics process. Customised price lists will be available and the existing option of checking stock availability will also be enhanced.
"In addition, individuals with pre-approved security clearance will be able to check POD (proof of delivery) information, print statements and reprint invoices.
"SDD has undertaken this project to provide a world-class distribution service to our customers. Seamless integration into the application system via the Internet will give authorised customers access to realtime information which will allow them to make informed decisions," Flatau concludes
