Aimed at organisations evolving towards e-business, Cisco's 1751 Modular Access Router, available from SDD, supports features such as VPNs; secure Internet; intranet and extranet access with optional firewall technology, broadband DSL and cable connectivity; and multiservice voice/video/data and fax integration.
Quintus Theron, Cisco product manager at SDD, refers to Cisco's 1751 Modular Access Router as a cost-effective solution that supports e-business applications through a comprehensive feature set.
As the name indicates, Cisco's 1751 Router is modular, allowing the system to be individually configured to meet specific business requirements. Flexible architecture enables upgrades and additions of WAN and voice interfaces. Furthermore, the integration of multiple network functions is made possible by Cisco's IOS software.
He continues: "Integrated network services and functions reduce the complexity of deploying and managing e-business solutions while RISC architecture, capable of supporting new technologies, protects your investment."
As part of Cisco's 1700 Router family, Cisco's 1751 Modular Access Router is capable of connecting to the Internet and communicating with vendors, customers, employees and offices. The Cisco 1751 Modular Access Router is available in two models, the Base or 1751-V Multiservice Model. The Base model enables immediate data networking while the Multiservice model makes the effortless integration of data and voice services possible.
"Service and support, ranging from help desk assistance to proactive onsite consultation is available on a one-time or annual contract basis," he explains. Support contracts include major Cisco IOS Software updates in protocol, security, bandwidth, and feature improvements; full access to Cisco.com for technical assistance, electronic commerce, and product information; and 24-hour access to dedicated technical support staff. Theron believes that a support contract maximises the value of your technology investment as it ensures optimum performance and availability.
"The Cisco 1751 router is a complete solution for integrated voice and data access in a single product. It eliminates the need to install and maintain a large number of separate devices thereby guaranteeing lower cost of ownership and notable returns on investment," he concludes.
