SDD says Compaq's V570 15-inch CRT monitor offers true value for money

Johannesburg, 10 Sep 2001

Aimed at customers in emerging markets and users looking for a display as part of a total desktop solution, Compaq's V570 15-inch CRT display is ideally suited for small to medium business users, including sales professionals, consultants and call centres.

The V570 monitor boasts a shadow mask display, the highest refresh rate of any 15-inch monitor in the industry and backward and forward compatibility with legacy and emerging technologies.

Amanda Saurma-Jeltsch, Compaq product manager at SDD, notes that monitor research firm, Stanford Resources reported that the worldwide market for all CRT monitors will grow from 119 million units in 2000 to 166 million units in 2006, with more than 90% of those monitors dedicated to desktop PC, workstation, and terminal applications.

In addition, she states: "The CRT monitor market remains one of the display industry's most important markets and is ultra-competitive, especially on the production side. Although flat panel monitors offer some important advantages over CRT monitors, they will only account for about 30% of the computer monitor market in 2006. The CRT monitor simply offers the best price-performance scenario for the majority of users now and for the next six years."

Bearing this in mind, she refers to the V570 as the optimum combination of price and performance in a 15-inch display. There are several important features that confirm this:

Impressive screen performance. The V570 monitor features 1024x768 display resolutions and a 70kHz horizontal frequency; Worldwide availability and accessibility to Compaq support; Advanced colour features; User-friendly onscreen controls; Ideal companion for Compaq desktops; and Intelligent manageability tools simplify and improve management of IT resources.

The V570 is ergonomically equipped with features like an anti-glare/anti-static screen and a tilt and swivel. Saurma-Jeltsch believes it is important to mention that the monitor does not have a USB interface but is compatible with all Compaq and third-party hardware. Additionally, as with all Compaq products, each monitor has a one-year, next day on-site warranty.

Compaq's V570 15-inch display is available from SDD's network of more than 6 000 dealers throughout SA.
