SDD technology showcase takes to the road again

Johannesburg, 09 Apr 1999

The SDD Technology showcase - the largest private Information Technology exhibition in SA - kicks off its countrywide roadshow in Pretoria on April 15 and moves on to Nelspruit on April 20.

Organised by Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD), Southern Africa`s largest specialised group in the IT supply chain, the one-day exhibition is aimed at computer resellers and corporate end-users as well as IT enthusiasts who find it difficult to attend broad-based exhibitions which are usually held in the major metropolitan areas.

This year, the SDD Technology Showcase features the latest technological developments and products from 22 of the world`s leading IT vendors including Compaq, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Canon, Epson and SDD`s own inhouse brand, Xylo.

In addition, representatives from Microsoft, IBM Software, Lotus, Greenwich Mean Time, Symantec, Visio, Seagate and Borland will participate in a Technology Update Conference which runs alongside the exhibition. Aldean Prior, SDD marketing manager, says the success of the first SDD Technology Showcase roadshow held last year exceeded SDD`s most optimistic expectations, with enormous response experienced in areas like Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, East London, Nelspruit and Pietersburg.

"Computer resellers and business users living outside the major metropolitan areas demonstrated pent-up demand for face-to-face information about the latest and best technology available. They don`t have the time to travel to the major centres to attend exhibitions.

"The Showcase therefore takes the exhibition to them and provides an opportunity to interface directly with representatives of the world`s top IT suppliers in an informal, yet business-like environment," she explains.

The first two legs of the 1999 SDD Technology Showcase take place at the CSIR in Pretoria on Thursday, April 15 and at the Promenade Hotel in Nelspruit on April 20. The Showcase is open from 09h00 to 19h00 while the Technology Update Conference runs from 09h15 to 19h00 with visitors able to select from eight different presentations throughout the day. The Showcase will move on to other cities and towns later in the year.

Entrance to the SDD Technology Showcase is free. For further information, call toll-free on 0800 117893 or visit the SDD website on http://www.sdd.com.
