SDD unveils HP's high-speed LaserJet 9000 for workgroup printing

Johannesburg, 28 Jun 2001

Hewlett-Packard's fastest, most versatile, black LaserJet printer designed for distributed work environments is available from SDD.

Ashley Botha, HP Product manager at SDD, says the new printer boasts an output speed of 50ppm (pages per minute) at a resolution of 600 x 600dpi, and a first page delivery time of eight seconds, labelling it the quickest laser printer to date.

He states that according to the Delphi Group, there is an increasing need for high-speed and high volume printing within the business-printing marketplace. Although the percentage of printed information is decreasing, the total volume of information is actually doubling every three to seven years.

"HP's LaserJet 9000 is more than capable of supporting the increasingly demanding and high-volume transaction printing environments expected in the near future," he explains.

"Combined business solutions enable the distribution of high volume print jobs directly to the end-users." Furthermore, the intelligent print system measures toner and media levels to ensure that print jobs are completed without intervention or waste.

Integrated services and proactive maintenance support reduce overall cost of ownership and increases printer uptime. He adds: "The HP 9000 is able to print at a low cost of less than 1c per page while the 30 000-page toner cartridge ensures inexpensive operation."

The two paper trays offer an input capacity of 1 000 sheets, which saves you from filling trays every five minutes.

The LaserJet is equipped with a 300MHz processor along with standard memory of 64MB that is expandable to 384MB. HP's LaserJet 9000 is also Internet-enabled to deliver customisation and manageability with HP's embedded virtual machine for running Java application, embedded Web server and Web JetAdmin. As with most HP products, the HP LaserJet 9000 has a one-year next day on-site or 600 000 pages warranty.

Further products in this range incorporating additional features include the HP LaserJet 9000n/9000dn and 9000hns. Botha concludes: "The HP LaserJet 9000 is the most versatile department printer available. Its capabilities make it the ideal printing solution for all general office printing requirements, as well as for in-house printing systems."

The HP LaserJet 9000 is available from SDD's network of more than 6 000 dealers around Southern Africa. SDD distributes the full range of Hewlett-Packard products, including PCs, servers, handheld devices and printers.
