Johannesburg, 22 Feb 2001

Following the merger of Siltek Distribution Dynamics and One Technology Group, the company has announced the appointment of a new managing director, a new corporate identity and new divisions within the company at a function held at its Midrand offices this week. PR and communications manager Christine Bergstedt revealed that the company would henceforth be known simply as SDD.

Bergstedt said that Toni Gorlei, previously of Nissan South Africa, is to take up the reigns at SDD as managing director, effective from 12 March 2001.

New divisions created within the company as a result of the merger include Local Brands, headed up by Stephan van Rensburg. Popular Vision, Xylo, Fujitech and Laptech PC products will be marketed through this division, while Siltek Technical Services, under the leadership of general manager Andre Louw, will be responsible for assembly, repairs and quality assurance. "The Technical Services division is gearing up to provide board level repairs and in future will also provide pre- and post sales support for the Cisco and Toshiba brands," added Bergstedt.

The company will be deploying a new accounting system that is expected to improve efficiency and customer service. "The Profitibility accounting suite by Ability is being tested during March and will be fully integrated by April 02," said Bergstedt. She said that SDD's clients would have full access to pertinent information from SDD's business management system. "With the new system, customers can perform a great many functions over the including the creation of quotes, viewing price lists and checking the latest transaction and statement details," she explained.

"With our new MD, new products and technical services, the imminent rollout of the new accounting system, and of course our new corporate image, we hope to tackle 2001 and beyond with renewed vigour while offering our clients the best of everything," concluded Bergstedt.
