JSE-listed SilverBridge Holdings has appointed Gawie Erasmus to head up its financial services unit, SDT.

SDT delivers solutions for the financial services industry. Its software platforms, based on Microsoft technology, enable customers to create, deliver, administer and a range of financial solutions. These include insurance , group investment schemes, employee benefits, life assurance and credit life assurance.

Erasmus, a CA by training, spent time with KPMG and former JSE-listed CS Holdings, before joining SDT. Erasmus is taking over from Jaco Swanepoel, who will focus on SilverBridge.

“We have appointed Gawie as CEO to eliminate confusion between operations at group and company level, and to enhance governance,” says Swanepoel. Erasmus has been COO for the past two years.

Swanepoel adds that he is stepping down from the day-to-day management of the company after 14 years.

Since Erasmus joined the company two years ago, it has grown from having 68 staff to just under 100. “I aim to continue this growth, by growing our presence in tier one insurance customers, enhancing our strong focus on Africa, and with a drive into emerging markets elsewhere.”

He adds: “We have laid the foundation for growth through a rigorous emphasis on governance; building a strong management team; employing only the finest people - all our customer-facing people are degreed professionals; and by empowering our clients to control the risks of application management effectively.”

SilverBridge's interim results for the six months to August will be published tomorrow.
