Full service has been restored to the Seacom network, following damage to the subsea cable running along the east coast of southern Africa last month.

Seacom says its cable network was successfully repaired over the weekend, with all circuits restored to the core network as of yesterday.

"Our network has informed us that the assigned cable ship worked in optimal weather conditions for the duration of their repairs. The cable was quickly lifted, the new cable spliced in, tested and re-laid thanks to close coordination between the ship crew and on-shore support."

The damage, which caused increased latency and slower connection speeds for Internet users, is believed to have been damaged by a ship's anchor.
