Seagate Technology, a leading manufacturer of computer tape drive products, today announced the appointment of Larry McMannon to the position of vice president and general manager for Seagate Removable Storage Solutions (RSS), overseeing all functions for the group including Sales and Marketing, Engineering, Quality, Product Management and Planning and Manufacturing Operations. He will report to Bernie Carballo, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Product Line Management & Customer Service Operations, and Removable Storage Solutions.

"Tape and removable storage is gaining significant momentum as we continue to introduce innovative and improved technologies," said Carballo. "Larry`s experience and leadership will guide RSS in its drive to increase market share with products and services that help people get their information when, where and how they want it."

McMannon filled the position on a temporary basis earlier this year, replacing Brian Dexheimer, who assumed the role of senior vice president, Product Marketing and PLM for Seagate Desktop disc drives in Longmont, Colo. McMannon`s career includes more than 30 years of management experience demonstrating his strengths in operations analysis and strategic and tactical planning within the industry`s highly competitive environment.

McMannon joined Seagate through the merger with Conner Peripherals in 1996 as vice president of Finance for the company`s Tape Drive division. Prior to his time with Conner, he spent nine years with Unisys Corp. in Blue Bell, Penn., and held the position of vice president, Finance, with responsibility for various divisions including the Client/Server Business, Computer Systems Product Group, Corporate Marketing and Services, and Customer Services and Logistics. From 1968 to 1986 Larry worked for Burroughs Corp. in Detroit, Mich., in a variety of financial management positions.

Larry holds both a bachelor`s and a master`s degree in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati.
