Seagate Technology, a leading manufacturer of information storage, access and management products, today announced the promotion of Michael Huntley to senior vice president, Worldwide Disc Drive Sales.

Huntley, formerly senior vice president and general manager of Seagate Tape Operations in Costa Mesa, California, will be based in Scotts Valley, California, and will report directly to Bernard Carballo, executive vice president, Sales, Marketing, Product Line Management and Customer Service.

"Mike brings more than 26 years of executive experience in the data storage industry to this position," said Carballo. "We're confident that his combination of experience and talent will contribute greatly to our efforts in further strengthening Seagate's position as the world's largest manufacturer of disc drives."

In his new role, Huntley will be responsible for management of all disc drive sales worldwide. Seagate Sales management reporting to Huntley will include Pete Rockers, senior vice president of Americas Sales, Jean-Pierre Robinot, senior vice president and general manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa Sales, Joel Stead, vice president of Asia Pacific Sales, Al Rickert, executive director Worldwide Forecasting, and Win Seipp, director Distribution Administration.

Most recently, Huntley had management responsibility for all functions at Seagate Tape Operations, including Sales and Marketing, Engineering and Quality, Product Management, Planning and Manufacturing Operations. Prior to his position at Tape Operations, Huntley served as Seagate's vice president of Americas Sales.

Huntley's career began in 1971 as manager of Sales for Control Data Corporation's Components Division. For the subsequent 17 years he held various executive positions with Control Data, including vice president of Sales for the Atlantic and Central regions of the United States, and later vice president of Worldwide Sales for the company's data storage division, Imprimis.

Huntley joined Archive Corporation in 1990 as vice president of Sales for the Americas, a position he held until he joined Seagate in 1993.

Huntley's replacement is Brian Dexheimer, who has been named vice president and general manager of Seagate Tape Operations, reporting to Steve Luczo, Seagate executive vice president of Corporate Development. Dexheimer was promoted from his previous position as vice president, Marketing and Product Line Management. Dexheimer was responsible for business and product strategy, planning and implementation, as well as product launch efforts for Seagate's full line of tape drives. His career includes more than 11 years experience in sales and marketing.

Joining Imprimis in 1984, Dexheimer came to Seagate with the company's acquisition of Imprimis in 1989. In 1993, Dexheimer was named senior director of Marketing, Desktop and Mobile products, a position he held until he assumed his role as vice president, Marketing and Product Line Management. Dexheimer's replacement has not yet been named.
