Seagate breaks 3TB threshold

Putting more terabytes in the hands of consumers worldwide, Seagate, hard drives and storage solutions manufacturer, announced the world's first 3TB external desktop drive, reveals Bernama.

Available immediately, the 3TB FreeAgent GoFlex Desk external hard drive is said to help meet the explosive worldwide demand for content storage in both the home and office.

With 3TB of capacity, users can store up to 120 high-definition movies, 1 500 video games, thousands of photos or countless hours of digital music.

Voice Mobility in talks to acquire Tagline

Voice Mobility International, developer and provider of carrier and enterprise messaging solutions, has entered into talks with Tagline Communications to acquire all of its assets in a cash and equity transaction, reports TMCnet.

The companies have agreed to have a definitive purchase agreement in place by 31 August and to close the transaction no later than 18 September.

"This acquisition is our first step in a planned series of acquisitions of profitable digital services companies offering a small office and home office subscription or monthly model to users encompassing features such as one-number dialling, mobile communications, fax to e-mail, cloud based address book, encryption and document sharing," said Jay Hutton, CEO of Voice Mobility.

MS productivity suites upgraded

Microsoft has begun updates to its online office productivity suites, Office Web Apps (OWA) and Facebook Docs, says Windows IT Pro.

OWA gets a number of requested new features, it says, including printing from Word Web App, Excel Web App charting and auto fill, and PowerPoint clip art and themes support.

Facebook Docs, essentially a version of OWA that runs on the Facebook platform, gets document tagging and search functionality.
