Seagate Software has implemented a channel partner programme to meet the needs of businesses looking for ways to access, analyse and report on e-commerce transactions using the newly released Seagate Crystal Reports 8 Web and desktop reporting tool. Vivek Thomas, regional marketing manager for Seagate Software, says that the company launched the training initiative to ensure users of the application would have a smooth migration to the upgrade.
"With Crystal Reports 8 providing Web reporting, integration with Microsoft Office applications, and tools for application developers it was vital that we ensured our channel partners were up to speed on the benefits of the new application and were skilled up to provide the necessary support as and when it is needed," says Thomas.
In addition to report viewing over the Net, hyperlink and page-on-demand functionality, Crystal Reports offers programmers a number of syntax advantages.
"Seagate Crystal Reports 8 provides developers with Web and application reporting tools for Microsoft Visual Basic, Visual InterDev, Lotus Domino Designer and a number of other well-known environments," he says. Using the Report Designer Component (RDC), an enhanced developer tool designed for Visual Studio and other COM-based development environments, Crystal Reports 8 enables developers to implement:
dynamic report creation;
create reports without existing database connection;
apartment model threading for development of reports in multi-tier applications; and
simple integration of reports into Active Server Pages (ASP) applications.
