Seagate Software announces support for Informatica Business Components and PowerConnect

By PR Connections
Johannesburg, 06 May 1999

Seagate Software, a leader in business intelligence software, today announced a decision to enhance its open architecture with support for Informatica Corporation`s Business Components and PowerConnect. Informatica`s new technologies will provide Seagate Software customers with additional choices for accessing business intelligence information and deploying analytic applications.

Seagate Software enables organizations around the world to rise above the data collection challenge, focus on solving business problems, and become more responsive to changing information. Its business intelligence and analytic applications provide access to and analysis of a wide range of data sources. This information can then be easily shared and delivered throughout an organization.

Business Components and PowerConnect from Informatica Informatica Business Components are software building blocks that significantly reduce the complexity of accessing operational data and populating analytic applications. Informatica PowerConnect is a family of packaged software products that help customers easily extract data and metadata from ERP and other legacy applications.

Enhancing Seagate Software`s Open Architecture

Seagate Software maintains an open architecture for its integrated business intelligence and analytic applications to give customers a choice in how they want to view, access and analyze information. Support for Informatica technologies will allow joint customers to quickly deploy sophisticated analytic applications, without the need for programming, and provide new methods of analyzing their corporate data.

"Informatica`s initiative to change the way companies use information complements our global vision to help businesses gain competitive advantage by bringing together their people and information," said Tony Wind, vice president of product management at Seagate Software. "Extending our support for Informatica`s Business Components and PowerConnect will strengthen our position in the burgeoning business intelligence market."

"Having Seagate Software, a leading business intelligence vendor, committed to support Business Components and PowerConnect is a key factor in our ability to offer customers the freedom to change the way they access business information," said Diaz Nesamoney, president of Informatica. "With Seagate Software`s solutions, customers are exposed to an open business intelligence system including ad hoc query, enterprise reporting and application creation capabilities delivered in a scalable infrastructure."
