Seagate Software, the pioneer of Enterprise Information Management and a leader in , today announced the availability of Seagate Holos 7.

Based on an open architecture, the new product offers a sophisticated development environment for building flexible and scalable business intelligence applications that can rapidly analyse large volumes of . Applications created with Seagate Holos enable business users to access live multidimensional and relational data to facilitate critical decision-making. The latest version is a key component of Seagate Software`s Enterprise Information Management vision to deliver a unified solution to corporations for unparalleled information delivery, analysis and availability.

"Seagate Holos enables our field managers and corporate headquarters to maximise the business by looking for opportunities to grow, improve profitability and increase revenue growth," said Bill Tingle, director of Information Management, Enterprise -A-Car. "Now with Seagate Holos 7, we expect that Enterprise will be able to analyse even more data with even greater flexibility to empower our end users with greater decision-making information."

Seagate Holos is used for a variety of business intelligence applications in global 2000 enterprises including British Telecom, Cisco Systems, Guinness, Trans Canada Pipeline, KPMG, Nike, PacifiCare, Subaru and Transamerica.

Delivering on Seagate Software`s Open OLAP Strategy

Often companies want to combine different proprietary OLAP data stores to provide better information to users. The Open OLAP strategy solves this challenge by joining disparate data sources so that it appears together as a single `business aware` application to the user.

Specifically, Seagate Holos 7 combines major data sources including Arbor Essbase, Microsoft`s Plato and the Seagate Holos OLAP data store. Now companies will be able to use a single business intelligence environment to leverage information from different sources for better decision making. The Open OLAP architecture is tightly integrated across Seagate Software`s entire range of business intelligence products.

Smart Consolidation Solves Database Explosion Problem

As global companies` data warehouses expand, OLAP data stores feeding from them grow exponentially. Using Smart Consolidation and `on-demand` data manipulation, Seagate Holos 7 increases capacity, scalability and performance, by radically shrinking cube size and optimising calculations.

Meeting Customer Demands for SAP Data Access

Global companies that have large financial investments in SAP find they need more business intelligence analysis of the data locked in the SAP system. The increased functionality of Seagate Holos 7 lets users query the base tables of SAP data using standard syntax to build OLAP cubes directly from SAP transaction data.

"Many global 2000 customers find they have too much data and not enough information," said Vivek Thomas, channel manager, Middle East and Africa, Seagate Software Information Management Group (IMG).

"They need a single application that brings together all their data and manages it better. Seagate Holos 7 includes the OLAP technology and analysis functionality required to create the high end business intelligence solutions organisations need to gain a competitive advantage in a global marketplace."
