Business Intelligence (BI) software specialist and developer of Seagate Crystal Reports, Seagate Software, has released a set of drivers that allow Lotus Notes and Domino users and developers to access, analyse, report and share structured information.
Vivek Thomas, regional manager Middle East and Africa at Seagate Software, says the new drivers bring BI technology to the world of Notes/Domino and will assist users of Lotus` workflow, groupware and messaging platform with the ever-increasing volumes of data within their organisations.
"These native and SQL drivers offer access to rich unstructured data in the secure, replicable Domino object store which allows the integration of BI solutions with Domino applications such as customer relationship, employee self-service or supplier relationship management," he adds.
Steve Dunbar, regional marketing manager at Lotus Development SA, says that Seagate Software`s new drivers add value to the Notes/Domino platform. "They enable reports to be built that combine the structured data of a customer information system with unstructured information, such as the service responses from a call centre help desk."
Using these drivers it is now possible to create administrative reports, drill-downs, cross-tabs and a wide variety of reports - with the ability to include maps and graphs for visual reference.
Other features and benefits include:
Rapid access to Notes data for creating of a wide variety of presentation-quality reports;
Direct interaction with the Notes infrastructure - Seagate Software-created reports are accessible from within the Notes environment;
Data from multiple and disparate sources (e.g: nsf , IBM DB2, or other data sources) can be combined to create one useful report; and
Easy viewing of reports from a desktop or a Web browser.
