Business intelligence software vendor, Seagate Software, has confirmed its commitment to a joint development initiative that optimises Seagate Software technology for use with SAP HR.
This development effort offers seamless access to the analysis and reporting technology of Seagate Crystal Reports to organisations using the SAP HR solution.
"Seagate Software and SAP provide reporting enhancements for SAP HR users in two new ways," says Vivek Thomas regional marketing manager for Seagate Software. "SAP HR users can export results from an SAP Ad hoc query to Seagate Crystal Reports. Alternatively, Seagate Crystal Reports users can report directly over SAP HR functional areas, without prior knowledge of the R/3 system."
Seagate Crystal Reports technology is the foundation for Seagate Software`s business intelligence products that help companies make use of vital data, by accessing, analysing, reporting on and sharing corporate information stored in data warehouses and ERP systems. Other products include Seagate Analysis, a free front-end client tool and Seagate Info, a business intelligence solution for the enterprise.
The SAP HR ad hoc query tool enables SAP users to create specific queries that meet their individual needs. The Seagate Software HR query driver, a result of joint development efforts with SAP, allows SAP HR customers to export HR query results directly to Seagate Crystal Reports. Once a report is generated, users can harness the reporting functionality of Crystal Reports to create a presentation quality document.
The Seagate Software HR query driver is expected to be available in version 4.6b of the SAP HR module in the first quarter of 2000.
Seagate Software`s functional area driver gives Seagate Crystal Reports access to SAP HR functional areas (version 4.6b). These functional areas are data abstractions that provide a selective view of data fields allowing for easy creation of queries. By using Seagate Crystal Reports, users - without needing any knowledge of SAP tables - can easily find essential SAP HR data and create an intuitive report that can be shared throughout an organisation. The Seagate Software functional area driver is expected to be available in the first half of year 2000.
