Yesterday, 1 649 visitors gathered at Securex, SA's international security, safety and protection exhibition at the Sandton Convention Centre, up from 1 448 on the first day last year.
"The turnout this year has been great. We had about 30% more visitors on the first day than the previous year," says Aldean Prior, director of Securex organiser, Exhibitions for Africa.
This year there are almost 200 companies exhibiting, and new products and technologies being showcased include digital video recording and IP technology, such as IP video surveillance cameras.
In the ICT space, exhibitors include Veridoc, Siemens, Reditron, Telkom, Panasonic and Samsung CCTV.
There will also be a series of workshops running alongside the exhibition that are hosted by The Security Association of SA. Topics include employment of ethical staff, the future of outdoor security, managing the media in crisis situations, and Ivan Israelstam will speak about the Council for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration.
Securex, now in its 12the year, runs until 23 June.
