Local solutions provider Securicom has rolled out e-Purifier Lite, the light-weight version of its e-mail security solution, e-Purifier Enterprise.

A Securicom release says the company developed the solution in response to the economic recession and South African businesses looking for a cost-effective, nuts-and-bolts solution to terminate spam and viruses.

Securicom's operations director, Dries Morris, says, “e-Purifier Lite provides comprehensive anti-spam and anti-virus protection at the ISP. What this means is that malicious e-mail-borne threats are eliminated from the mail flow before they hit the client's network.

“This lowers the client's by protecting the network from the host of debilitating effects of spam and viruses, and prevents from being wasted on downloading unsolicited and potentially damaging content.”

The e-Purifier Lite product is fully-managed and hosted by Securicom. According to the company, the Lite solution differs from e-Purifier Enterprise in that it doesn't include e-mail content management and provides basic-level e-mail security.

E-Purifier Lite includes access to a secure online management console and pre-defined reports. Securicom says this provides IT managers with full visibility into company mail flow at all times, and they can drill-down and analyse e-mails against a range of criteria.

The company adds that the solution is not only targeted at SMEs, but also larger companies, as it's scalable and can support e-mail networks of any size and can grow with the network as the business expands.
