Securicom, a trusted provider of managed IT security services in South Africa, has spruced up its e-mail archiving and retrieval solution, Securicom MailVault, to enable companies to store, access and retrieve all incoming and outgoing e-mails, as well as internal messages, on demand.
Securicom MailVault is more than just an archiving solution.
It ensures business continuity in the event of an e-mail system failure by providing continuous and anytime access to e-mails via a secure, user-friendly Web interface, which can be accessed using any Internet-enabled device. E-mails can be also be sent and received via the interface so employee productivity is not hampered when the company e-mail system is unavailable, or when employees are working remotely.
The solution has advanced search capabilities to make is quick and easy to find required information contained in e-mail communication. It is fully hosted in the cloud by Securicom at a secure data centre, and delivered as a managed service.
“Securicom MailVault provides complete and reliable real-time back-up of all electronic communication in a central archive that is equal to housing a fully-redundant system, but without the high cost. It's a smart solution that enables companies to easily and efficiently manage their e-mail life cycle.
“Companies and their employees have become heavily reliant on e-mail to conduct business. When systems go down, compromising e-mail access, it disturbs business continuity and productivity. Securicom MailVault empowers users with the ability to access and retrieve their e-mails, including internal messages, whenever they need them.
“In addition to delivering unhampered e-mail access, our solution provides an economical solution to the challenges of e-mail archiving and retrieval in line with the requirements of the Electronic Communications and Transactions (ECT) Act,” says Securicom's Operations Director, Dries Morris.
Securicom MailVault is touch-less to the client environment. Companies simply subscribe to the service. Journaling is enabled on the client e-mail system and Securicom MailVault automatically sucks all e-mails into the cloud and archives them in a high-security data centre.
The newly upgraded solution features two interactive, Web-based consoles; one for users and one for IT administrators. Both of the online portals have a familiar look and feel, and they are simple to use.
“Employees and company IT administrators will feel as comfortable using the system as they would their normal e-mail client,” says Morris.
From the user interface, employees can:
* Search for, view and retrieve all incoming, outgoing and internal messages.
* Send and receive messages at any time, from anywhere, using an Internet-enabled device.
* Continue working even during an e-mail system failure.
From the management portal, IT administrators can:
* Get full visibility into company e-mail flow.
* Conduct audits of user visits to the e-mail archive and see what actions were taken.
* Configure aliases, domains and settings.
* Check up on the amount of storage being used.
Securicom MailVault allows for different security access levels to be set for different levels of users. This is to control the access to archived messages based on logon credentials.
“There are two good reasons why companies should have measures in place for archiving and retrieving electronic communication; business continuity is one, and legal compliance is the other. Securicom MailVault addresses both. The non-invasiveness of the solution and ease with which it can be deployed, without any equipment or software installation, makes it particularly attractive,” concludes Morris.
