Security affects government

Requirements for professional security certification for IT workers in civilian agencies would have a major impact on how government and industry recruit, train and manage their IT staff, says GCN.

"They are going to affect every one of us in the field, contractors and government employees," said George Datesman, a senior manager at Noblis.

As IT security has become professionalised, a number of certifications have achieved general recognition industry-wide, including a suite from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium.

IT management "greens" data centres

According to Gartner, data centres waste large amounts of energy due to large-scale inefficiencies throughout the energy chain, says Virtualization Review.

IT management can help enterprises improve energy efficiency and develop a comprehensive green strategy. This research outlines the trends affecting data centres and offers IT managers the necessary strategies to address changes.

It discusses future energy needs, data centres of the future and challenges established data centre infrastructure.

IDS Scheer integrates ARIS

Hoping to further bridge the gap between the business world and the world of IT, business process management vendor IDS Scheer announced a further integration of its ARIS modelling suite with BMC Software's IT service management tools, says AMNet.

The two companies had already worked together to develop BMC Discovery for Business Processes.

This allows IT managers to determine which business processes are affected when certain IT events occur, and allows them to plan and prioritise these events to minimise business impact.
