Security needs to adapt to dynamic data centre

Johannesburg, 02 Aug 2010

Enterprises are increasingly online and data-centric, and no matter what the purpose, eg, connecting partners, personnel, suppliers, or customers, applications face a growing danger of cyber attacks.

These targeted threats are greater and more sophisticated than ever before, and data security compliance becomes more stringent every day. Organisations need uncompromising security that enables them to modernise their data centre(s) with virtualisation and cloud computing without reducing performance.

Deep Security, from Trend Micro, is a comprehensive server and application protection software that enables physical, virtual, and cloud computing environments to become self-defending.

Whether implemented as software, virtual appliance, or in a hybrid approach, this solution minimises overhead, streamlines management, and strengthens transparent security for virtual machines. Deep Security also addresses a wide range of compliance requirements, including six major PCI compliance requirements with Web application-layer firewall, IDS/IPS, file integrity monitoring, and network segmentation, as well as a wide range of other compliance requirements.

“Deep Security covers the six key data centre requirements, ie, server protection, Web application security, virtualisation security, suspicious-behaviour detection, cloud computing security and compliance reporting,” commented Lee Bristow, Product Manager at SecureData. “In addition, detailed server-level security events are provided to a Security Incident & Event Management (SIEM) system such as ArcSight, also distributed by SecureData, through multiple integration options.”

“With today's IT budgets under strain, it's vital that tools that offer operational cost reductions take on a new perspective,” concluded Yugan Reddy at SecureData. “Deep Security is a prime example of such a product.”

SecureData Security, part of JSE-listed SecureData Holdings is the sole sub-Saharan distributor for Trend Micro.
