Security risks for CA customers
Computer Associates` (CA) customers are at risk from serious security flaws affecting a string of applications on several platforms, the company has warned.
CA warned of two flaws that could allow attackers to execute malicious code or commands to be executed on enterprise systems, as well as a third, less serious bug that could allow an attacker to crash a system, TechWorld reports.
The bugs affect CA Message Queuing, a component found in a large number of CA applications.
Other affected products are Advantage Data Transport, BrightStor Portal, CleverPath, eTrust Admin and Unicenter.
CA has released patches and has strongly recommended users to apply them.
F-Secure updates anti-virus software
F-Secure has launched a version of the company`s anti-virus software, called Anti-Virus Client Security, that integrates spyware and spam protection with policy-management features to keep malware from penetrating enterprise networks, reports Top Tech News.
The software, now in version 6.0, also includes user-sensitive behavioural guards, such as a network-quarantine and location-awareness services, to keep laptops that have gone outside the network perimeter from infecting the network when they reconnect.
This end-point protection is designed to create a barrier against spyware, adware, hackers, viruses, worms and zero-day attacks.
University records may have been breached
Virus attacks on a California State University (CSU) computer may have exposed names and social security numbers of 154 people, DailyBreeze reports.
The computer was left momentarily vulnerable following a series of virus attacks earlier this month, but investigators had not determined whether any of the data was accessed.
"There is a potential computer security breach. We don`t know exactly whether they were successful," a university spokesperson said.
