
Self-service BI to grow in 2011
According to a recent Computerworld report, the popularity of self-service business intelligence (BI) tools, such as those provided as part of SAP data management solutions, will continue to increase in 2011, states Winshuttle.
Analyst James Kobielus told Computerworld that self-service BI tools grew in popularity in 2010, but the trend is expected to accelerate in the new year. Mobile BI, software-as-a-service-based BI and social media analytics are also expected to grow steadily, according to the report.
Self-service BI tools are designed to provide users with interactive reporting abilities, data analytics capabilities and more comprehensive reporting tools.
Subaye intros self-service 3D mall
Subaye, an online business services provider in China engaged in enterprise cloud computing, video marketing and business to consumer online solutions, unveiled Web self-service, Subaye's online 3D mall, reports TMC Net.
In February 2011, management expects to generate revenues from the online 3D mall customers, many of which are already selling products through the online 3D mall.
According to a press release, Subaye is planning to charge a 3% transaction fee for all sales of products and services through its online 3D mall. Subaye's Bundeld Cloud Product and other customers will be able to use the Web site for free until the end of January.
BMV dumps self-service terminals
The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) has done away with the much-touted self-service terminals because of changes to the registration process, writes The Indy Channel.
The kiosks, which were in at least 55 locations, are no longer in use, BMV spokesman Dennis Rosebrough confirmed.
“As part of our overall effort to improve security and efficiency, the self-service terminals are no longer available at BMV licence branches,” a statement on the agency's Web site reads.
