Autopage cellular, a member of the Altech Group, and SMS company Mobile Internet Gateway (MIG) have launched what they describe as SA`s first bulk SMS technology system.
Autopage Cellular subscribers will be able to use the system to set up, administer, send and receive bulk SMS messages via an Internet site. The technology is available on a pay-as-you-use basis, with costs automatically added to subscribers` normal monthly phone bills.
"By logging on to the Autopage Web page, subscribers can conduct all their bulk SMS messaging without investing a cent in any software or other capital outlay," says Ian Wylde, IT director of Autopage Cellular. "All three cellular networks are served."
The system allows for databanks to be uploaded in CSV format, or for groups to be created on an individual basis. The companies say the cost per bulk SMS message is 40c, compared with up to 86c per message for a normal SMS at peak time.
