Sentech World's Biggest Golf Company Day tees off for the fourth consecutive year at golf courses all over the country, with the Gauteng event taking place on 21 May at the Centurion Country Club.
The event is hosted over a three-day period in Gauteng, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Margate and East London, and attracts South Africa's top companies and business people, uniting for a benevolent cause.
"The sheer scale of this event is extremely special to us, particularly because all the proceeds are donated to CHOC (Children's Haematology Oncology Clinics). It is a great opportunity for South Africa's business community to get together, enjoy themselves, while doing something great for charity," says Dr Sebiletso Mokone-Matabane, Sentech's CEO.
Each year the event grows. In 2007 almost 3500 golfers from over 50 companies took part. In 2005, the event was recognised by the Guinness Book of Records for having the most golfers playing in a tournament on a single day. The event has grown over the years and the increasing numbers have also enabled Sentech to donate well over R300 000 to CHOC.
"CHOC is a country-wide voluntary organisation which brings together and supports the parents of children who suffer from all varieties of cancer or life-threatening blood disorders.
"The CHOC Houses provide children with cancer a home which is comfortable and gives them a home-away-from-home. Sentech identified CHOC as a deserving cause and we are pleased to be associated with an organisation that brings joy to the lives of children debilitated by such severe illnesses," adds Mokone-Matabane.
