Sentech is discontinuing its MyWireless Classic product range, and users who wish to migrate to its other product offerings may do so immediately, it says.
According to Sentech media relations manager Pranill Ramchacher, an analysis of the usage patterns of the MyWireless Classic range revealed that 85% of the users on the standard package would pay less on the equivalent flexi package. Meanwhile, 73% of users on the professional package would also get better benefits in the flexi range, he says.
Standard package users would also receive a faster connection as the flexi product range is standardised at 256Kbps maximum download speed, which is twice the speed of the classic standard product, he says.
Ramchacher says Sentech also noted that a small percentage of users on the classic range, which has a soft cap, were using over 50% of its network resources, making the classic range non-viable, he says.
Customers who are on a contract and wish to migrate to the MyWireless Flexi range immediately will be allowed to do so, he adds. Contract customers who do not wish to migrate will have to adhere to a 10GB cap on the standard package, a 20GB cap on the professional package and a 40GB cap on the premium package, he says.
"In the interest of our customers, Sentech will enforce its acceptable use policy and will now charge additional usage above these limits at a rate of 50c per MB," he says.
