Sentech, the ICT innovator that was first to market with broadband wireless (BBW), has again stepped up the competitive pace in the ICT sector with four simultaneous product launches.
The new offerings were unveiled today at a launch event in Fourways, Johannesburg.
Gladwin Marumo, Chief Operating Officer of Sentech, told clients, industry figures and executives from partner companies: "Sentech is committed to raising the bar in ICT. We plan to reach more users with more options, even better quality and more affordable solutions - and do so at pace.
"The developing world has been playing catch-up in the technology space for too long. If we really are to catch up, we have to commit ourselves to much faster rates of solution development and deployment.
"Sentech is determined to play its part and maintain the momentum built up since the launch of our first BBW products two years ago."
Sentech is keen to expand IT's role as an empowerment tool.
Marumo explained: "Sentech is motivated by information technology's power to transform lives. We're eager to accelerate transformation by pushing the fast-forward button on product development.
"That's why we're here today. We bring you some exciting developments. We also give you our promise that Sentech's innovation won't stop. There's a lot more excitement to come."
New products are:
VMESH, a satellite-based communications tool with the potential to shrink time and distance, turning remote, de-centralised operations across Africa into "the office next door". VMESH directly connects multiple sites across a single satellite link or 'hop' without the double-hop delays that bedevil hub-based systems. The quality of messaging is also enhanced whatever the format - video conferencing, voice and data-streams or Internet-based platforms.
InStoreAd, a multimedia advertising 'first' that creates radio with pictures attached. InStoreAd uses satellite bandwidth up-linked to decoders connected to TV monitors in stores or shopping centres. Satellite radio activates advertising presentations which run on a loop synchronised with in-store radio content. On-screen visuals and text then reinforce radio broadcasts carried in-store on public address systems.
MultiNet, an upgraded satellite communication tool that cures business communication 'arthritis' - the painfully slow rate of information transfer that occurs when an organisation distributes huge data files to branch offices, almost bringing host systems to a standstill. Enhancements to Sentech's IP Multicast solution permit simultaneous and secure transmission of voice, video and text information from a single source to multiple sites without transmission breaks or the overloading of terrestrial links. MultiNet can turn a geographically diversified business into an Internet Age broadcaster capable of transmitting huge amounts of data without blocking or slowing regular information traffic.
MailLink, an upgraded, multifunctional hosting service that takes e-mail into a new, brand-conscious, cost-sensitive and ultra-reliable era. MailLink uses a fully redundant high-end dynamic e-mail cluster, ensuring optimum uptime across multiple sites. It can be a standalone solution or an element in various packages, including Sentech's BBW range - MyWireless Standard, MyWireless Professional and MyWireless Premium.
