Serena Software`s recent offer to acquire Merant plc will represent a new era in the South African enterprise change management (EMC) space as local companies now have access to a stronger, more comprehensive portfolio of change management software solutions.
According to Bytes Business Solutions, Serena`s South African partner, the announcement is very good news as it brings together two leaders in ECM, with complementary strengths on mainframe platforms and distributed systems.
"We believe that the combination of Merant and Serena creates an international industry leader in ECM, which in turn offers new opportunities, as we and our partners now have access to a larger portfolio of products and technologies - benefiting change management environments," comments Justin Arnoldi, SCM product manager for Bytes Business Solutions.
Serena and Merant also believe their combined strengths should deliver significant strategic benefits and provide opportunities to reduce expenses.
The acquisition will also see Serena further driving its vision to offer companies applications lifecycle management solutions, branded Serena`s Application Framework for Enterprises, accessing larger markets and competing more successfully.
