Serena ChangeMan ZDD 3.1 enhances developer access to mainframe data

Global software and services company Serena Software has released the latest version of its ChangeMan ZDD development tool to the South African marketplace.

According to Serena`s local distributor, Bytes Business Solutions, ChangeMan ZDD version 3.1 features several usability, access and development enhancements that improve the flow of information to and from mainframe systems, thus increasing overall productivity.

Serena ChangeMan ZDD delivers the usability benefits of Windows environments to access and move mainframe software assets to the desktop without compromising data integrity.

"ChangeMan ZDD 3.1 makes it possible to utilise desktop reporting and project management tools with mainframe applications. It integrates with Serena`s ChangeMan ZMF and exploits XML to safely expose mainframe data to Windows developers, while at the same time protecting software through the application lifecycle," comments Justin Arnoldi, SCM Product Manager at Bytes Business Solutions.

Notably, the tool allows developers and system support personnel to transparently use their favourite Windows IDE (Integrated Development Environment), which can lead to important business benefits throughout the enterprise.

ChangeMan ZDD 3.1 also features mainframe build, compile and promote capabilities that enable developers - along with support and administrative personnel - to work within the familiar Windows environment, while minimising error and lowering training and system CPU costs.

Other key development functionalities include built-in Editor and Differencing utilities that provide companies with a complete, complementary set of desktop functions.

ChangeMan ZDD also includes usability and access features such as Section 508 compliance for customers with disabilities, as well as international code page support for non-English speaking environments.
