Serena releases first product based on next-generation SAFE framework

Johannesburg, 26 Nov 2003

Serena Software and official South African distributor, Bytes Business Solutions, have introduced TeamTrack version 6 - the first product featuring the next-generation framework, Serena Application Framework for Enterprises (SAFE).

It is also Serena`s first major release of TeamTrack since acquiring the process management solution earlier this year.

New TeamTrack 6 enhancements include a real-time management dashboard portal and a role-based interface, which extends the product`s central role it plays within Serena`s Enterprise Change Management (ECM) offerings.

Comments Justin Arnoldi, SCM product manager at Bytes Business Solutions: "TeakTrack 6 ensures process enforcement, while still allowing companies to make agile course corrections at any point throughout the application lifecycle, therefore, reducing cumulative costs across the value chain."

"Increasingly, business is driving IT to cut costs and achieve rigorous, quantifiable bottom-line goals," says Jim Duggan, vice-president at Gartner. "Solutions that help streamline processes and promote consistency are critical in helping IT successfully meet this challenge."

Version 6 integrates with a wide range of partner applications to help organisations leverage existing investments across the enterprise. When combined with Serena`s ECM products, the integrated solution enables customers to align the change approval process to the application lifecycle.

In addition, as Serena continues to deliver on market demands with SAFE, companies will be able to closely link the people, tools and assets involved throughout the application lifecycle - not just across platforms, but across processes.

Based on an open architecture, SAFE enables companies to integrate with other leading-technologies in addition to the tools they already have in place.

Following the best-of-breed model inherent in all of Serena`s ECM solutions, SAFE builds a bridge between a company`s existing systems and the processes it wants to enforce and standardise on, regardless of the solution providing the automation.

This in turn allows organisations to leverage existing investments and continue working with their preferred application development tools.
