Server Technology exhibits data centre solutions for powering Cisco's Unified Computing System at Cisco Live London

New data centre products designed for high-density blade server environments.

Johannesburg, 06 Jul 2011

Server Technology, the global leader for Cabinet Power Distribution Units (CDUs) and Power Measurement and Monitoring Solutions, exhibited several new solutions to power Cisco's Unified Computing System (UCS) at Cisco Live! London, earlier this year, at the London ExCel venue.

“We've developed a number of new solutions to help data centre design engineers, application engineers and data centre managers power Cisco's UCS,” said Brandon Ewing, president of Server Technology. “The new products we're showing are uniquely designed for data centre environments deploying high-density blade servers and high-capacity switches, such as a new CDU specifically for Cisco's Nexus 7000 series*,” said Ewing.

“Data centres today want to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and increase their business agility. We have the power management solutions to power Cisco's next-generation UCS data centre platform,” said Ewing.

Cisco's UCS combines virtualisation, storage access, computing and network into a complete solution. Server Technology's CDUs provide a number of key benefits that allow data centre professionals to better monitor and manage their operation, including remote viewing of power utilisation and environmental conditions, e-mail alert notification if cabinet conditions exceed pre-set thresholds, local LEDs per branch circuit or phase, providing easy-to-read displays to determine if the load is balanced, and visual indication that power is supplied to the CDU, environmental measurements for temperature and humidity, and local and remote notification if a branch circuit is lost.

* Power Management for Cisco Nexus 7000s

There's a smarter, more economical solution to power Cisco Nexus 7000 series. Server Technology introduces the unique 50/60A 3-phase Smart Cabinet PDU designed especially for Cisco Nexus 7000s. Sentry CS-6HD/HY products provide a NEMA locking outlet solution for high-density applications found in network cabinets. These CDUs provide reliable three-phase power distribution combined with local and remote power monitoring and environmental monitoring capabilities over IP.

The information you need - at a glance. You can use the network interface to view power, temperature and humidity levels via a Web browser. Digital True RMS current monitoring is provided, and critical to preventing overloads in high-density computing environments.
