No IT technician looks forward to spending time installing new servers, especially when several servers need to be deployed with similar configurations. Now, with the addition of Server Image technology in ServerMagic 2.01 from PowerQuest, IT technicians can create a compressed image of a NetWare server for use in deploying additional servers throughout their organisation.
ServerMagic 2.01 is also suitable for upgrading NetWare and NT servers by maximising security protections of data and minimising downtime.
"Server Image is a sector-based imaging tool optimised for rolling out NetWare servers," says Dave Terespolsky, MD of local distributor Server Tools. "Server Image uses patented SmartSector technology to image only used sectors. This process ensures an exact copy of the original server. It is 300% faster at creating and restoring images than other means of installing NetWare, including manual installation and file-by-file backup and imaging."
ServerMagic 2.01 automatically copies or moves an NT or NetWare server`s hard drive to a new drive without having to back up or restore trustee rights or directory settings. Once copied, ServerMagic allows the user to resize NetWare, NT and DOS partitions, on the new server drive.
Server imaging capabilities in Server Image are available for NetWare servers. Future developments of Server Image will provide this added functionality for NT servers.
