BlackBerry ban should wake up travellers

The threat of a ban on BlackBerry should serve as a wake up call for Canadian business travellers and organisations doing business abroad, according to industry watchers, says IT Business.

This is warned whether government officials and Research In Motion (RIM) executives are able to avert possible restrictions on BlackBerry use in the Middle East and Southeast Asia or not.

RIM is currently facing intense pressure to open its encrypted network to scrutiny by governments in situations that might affect national security.

Cloud services for SMEs unveiled

Smartworld, an ICT services provider unveiled its cloud-based Smart Hosted UC services for small and medium businesses in the Middle East, reveals Al Bawaba.

The service is offered in two modules - standard and premium and provides a single secure platform for e-mail, contacts, instant messaging, calendaring, file sharing, mobility, and 24/7 customer support; thereby allowing users to streamline information, collaborate and work anywhere and at anytime.

Smartworld's hosted service is said to be a secure end-to-end solution for SMEs with a user-friendly interface that allows companies to implement and integrate with existing applications and smartphones; consequently allowing employees to access information.
