SETcom is enabling the Western Province Cellars (WPC) Web site to process credit and debit card payments in real-time. The project will realise online transactions via SETcom's secure payment gateway, in conjunction with First National Bank (FNB).
"WPC required a technology partner able to implement and maintain the credit card transaction component of its business in an Internet environment," says Richard Binks of SETcom. "The giant liquor retailer sought an easy and flexible implementation method which would entail a relatively inexpensive initial and ongoing investment."
SETcom, in collaboration with Xcommerce, will develop the front and back applications for WPC, as well as install a fully interactive Web site for purchasers to select and order beverages and party snacks in real-time. WPC customers can order and pay online.
The first phase of the project will realise full order functionality for a selected number of WPC stores, after which a second roll-out phase will extend this capability to remaining outlets. The project entails provision of the necessary infrastructure, technology and skills for e-commerce enablement of the Web site, and will be executed in conjunction with Xcommerce, a Web solution provider familiar with SETcom implementation methods.
"SETcom was chosen for its flexibility regarding implementation," notes Binks. WPC will be able to expedite the virtual merchant account process with FNB - the idea is for the transfer of funds to be routed directly to each individual WPC merchant's business bank account.
The contract with WPC is expected to run for 12 months. The impact on WPC's overall operations will entail an administrative function at head office that can effectively manage all orders placed via credit or debit cards, as well as real-time credit/debit card acceptance.
