Setting new records

Johannesburg, 29 Sep 1998

Why is one of the UK`s largest music and software duplicators so keen on IMPACT Encore? Quite simply, Ablex Audio is seeking to eliminate the wasteful duplication of management and control information caused by its previous fragmented systems.

Another McGuffie Brunton customer site, Telford-based Ablex is the UK`s first duplicator to introduce 'Dolby B` noise reduction, chrome dioxide tapes and digital high speed duplication. It produces over 25 million music cassettes, up to 35 million compact discs and 5 million floppy disks per year.

However, a lack of integration to control finance, production and distribution was wasting time and effort because information was being keyed in two or three times, thereby holding back the company`s plans to grow in this fast-moving business.

Barry Allport, Ablex`s IT manager, explains: "Integration is the key to supporting the business in the future, and the IMPACT system will address this need."

"More than any of the other packages considered, the core system provides the functionality needed to establish visibility and control from sales through production and delivery. This is combined with ease of use and integration with other office products. Furthermore, in a business where rapid response is essential, and where the product by its nature has an immense variety of potential configurations, Encore's Product Configurator module is ideally suited to the company`s need to create configured product quotes quickly and efficiently," he says.
