SGA appoints Software Futures as FYI VAR

Johannesburg, 02 Sep 1999

Software Futures, a CCH company, has been appointed as an FYI VAR for SGA Integrators in South Africa. FYI is an information management tool that incorporates document management and workflow applications, providing rapid integration of imaging, document management, workflow and electronic forms functionality.

Rob Gillespie, MD of African FYI distributor, SGA Integrators, says Software Futures is ideally poised to take FYI`s capabilities into the financial and insurance market where FYI has had limited exposure so far. "Software Futures has the feet to take FYI into far more enterprises than we can currently ," he says.

Gillespie describes SGA as a value-added distributor, and notes that the deal will see SGA providing the skills and Software Futures lacks in implementing the system for its customers, while at the same time training the Software Futures` staff. He says SGA`s function is to assist its resellers with backup and support until their staff have been trained to handle the first and second levels of support, while SGA will remain as third-level support.

Piet Botha, sales manager at Futures, part of the Software Futures group adds that SGA`s in-house skills will be able to provide Software Futures with assistance in the form of presales support, as well as more resources and experience in implementation process.

Training is a critical part of the partnership, with Gillespie noting that SGA provides training to its channel partners as well as their clients. The company is currently involved in FYI training in its UK and US offices.

FYI`s global information management allows companies to collect and store information from across the enterprise in a secured and seamless environment. It has the ability to manage any document or data type in its native format without the need for any conversion, while still allowing global viewing, annotating, printing or faxing regardless of whether the user has access to the native application or not. The flexible nature of the product means it can also be used to link existing legacy applications and associate all archived information with that data.

Gillespie says FYI enables companies to take the drudgery out of paperwork, makes the flow of information more efficient, ensures no steps are skipped in the business process and helps to curb fraud.

Future expansion will see FYI incorporating knowledge management and content mining into its basic core, while providing an interface that is easy to use and read.
