Shakespeare's Globe gets Web library
Shakespeare's Globe has unveiled a catalogue called Ariel, an 'Access-It' Web-based library system that will allow the library to manage collections of books as well as serials, electronic documents and multimedia, reports Computing.co.uk.
The library contains texts and criticism of plays by Shakespeare and his contemporaries, a selection of 16th and 17th century poetry, and a range of periodicals.
It also contains the works on the Shakespearean sources and theatre history, cultural and social history of early modern England, and Shakespeare's Globe, such as reconstruction and early seasons.
Students, experts discuss Net safety
The Online Safety and Technology Working Group held a meeting at the US Department of Commerce to discuss how to best protect children online, states CNET News.
The 29-person panel, which includes representatives of Internet companies, academia, non-profit organisations, and government agencies appointed in April by US Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration, offered recommendations ranging from self-protection to cyber bullying prevention.
The first set of presenters was a group of public-school students who gave a frank appraisal on the state of Internet safety education from the front lines.
